10 Things You Should NEVER Do in The Forge (Roblox)
Most players don’t lose all their health in The Forge because they lack raw gaming skill. They get stuck grinding on Island 1 or get wiped out in the Frostspire Expanse because they make the same fundamental progression mistakes every single session.
Whether you are trying to maximize your Crafting Quality or survive the newly released Island 4 (Crimson Sakura), avoiding bad habits will speed up your progression faster than mindlessly hitting rocks. Here are the 10 biggest mistakes holding you back in The Forge.

1. Mixing Low-Tier Ores with High-Tier Ores
When you are trying to craft the best weapons, do not throw Common ores into the pot with Epic or Legendary ores just to fill space. Mixing low and high-rarity ores actively lowers the final stat multiplier of your item. These multipliers directly determine your weapon’s damage and your armor’s overall health pool. If you want top-tier gear, use exclusively high-rarity materials.
2. Mashing Attack Instead of Parrying
If you are just spamming your M1 attacks against enemies like the Yeti, you are going to die quickly. Combat in The Forge relies heavily on defensive timing. Holding the ‘F’ key blocks incoming attacks and reduces damage, but pressing ‘F’ at the exact moment an enemy strikes performs a Parry. Parrying deflects 100% of the damage and costs zero stamina. Master this before leaving Island 1.
3. Selling Rare Ores Too Early
It is tempting to sell those rare ore drops for quick gold to buy your first few pickaxe upgrades. Don’t do it. Early-game items get replaced incredibly fast, but those rare ores are mandatory for high-quality crafting projects once you reach Island 2 and beyond. Save them in your inventory.
4. Ignoring the “Index” Tab XP
Are you stuck trying to reach Level 10 to unlock Island 2? Most players completely ignore the Index system. Press ‘T’ to open your inventory and navigate to the blue Index tab. Every time you craft a new type of item (like your first dagger, sword, or specific armor piece) for the first time, you can claim a massive chunk of free XP.
5. Botching the Forging Minigames
Your gear’s final stats are determined by how well you perform the three crafting minigames.
- The Bellows: You must hold the green circle and pump consistently; stopping will cause your progress to drop and ruin the item’s quality.
- The White Line: Tap carefully to keep the line inside the moving yellow bar.
- The Hammer: This is the most crucial step. You must tap exactly when the outer circle overlaps the inner circle. If you lag or panic here, your Crafting Quality will plummet.
6. Sticking with the “Human” Race
When you start the game, you are assigned the Human race, which provides zero racial combat or mining bonuses. Use your free rerolls immediately. You want to aim for Agile races like the Dwarf (which gives a massive mining damage bonus and forge bonus) or heavy hitters like the Demon and Dragonborn.
7. Buying Every Single Pickaxe Upgrade
You do not need to buy every pickaxe in the shop. A common beginner trap is wasting gold on incremental upgrades. A highly optimized path is to buy the Bronze Pickaxe, move to Iron, and then skip Platinum entirely to buy the Gold Pickaxe. Save your money for the Cobalt or Titanium pickaxes later on.
8. Ignoring the Forge Locking System
Introduced in the early 2026 updates, the Forge Locking System allows you to secure exactly what you want to craft. By inserting specific amounts of ore into the Forge, you can lock the RNG categories. If the lock icon turns yellow, you have a 100% chance to craft that specific armor or weapon type. Stop leaving your best gear up to chance!
9. Wasting Runes on Early Gear
Runes provide massive buffs, like life steal or increased ore drops. Do not slot these into your basic Iron weapons. Save your Enhancers and Runes for endgame gear obtained on Island 3 (Frostspire Expanse) or the newly released Crimson Sakura map.
10. Forgetting Potions for Boss Fights
Bosses have massive health pools, even after the recent update reduced the Yeti’s HP from 10,000 to 8,000. Do not walk into a boss arena or a deep cave expedition without visiting Fungi’s Shop. Damage, health, and mining potions provide massive advantages that can easily be the difference between a wipe and a successful run.
