Most players think updates are something you just react to. But if you play The Forge on Roblox, the Island 3 update (Frostspire Expanse) is a massive difficulty spike.
Players who prepare now will progress faster and dominate the new zones. Players who go in blind will be stuck mining basic rocks while everyone else is forging Colossal Swords. If you want to survive the ice caves and the new Golem bosses, here are the 10 things you need to do right now.
You literally cannot enter the Frostspire Expanse until you hit Level 70. Even if you have the Portal Tool unlocked from Island 1, the option to teleport to Island 3 will remain locked and invisible until you meet this cap. Stop wasting time exploring and focus entirely on high-XP tasks to hit level 70 before the update.
When you first land on Island 3, the absolute minimum mining damage you need to break the ice barrier and harvest efficiently is 320. If you don’t have this, you will be completely locked out of the best starter zones. Make it your primary goal to upgrade to the Snow Pickaxe as soon as you arrive.
The new pickaxe meta is incredibly expensive. The Prismatic Pickaxe is one of the absolute best mining tools available on Island 3, and it costs a massive 2 million cash. Stop buying incremental mid-tier upgrades like the Aqua or Mist pickaxes. Save your money so you can buy the endgame tools immediately.
The Island 3 update introduces highly sought-after new races: the Epic Vampire, the Legendary Felynx, and the Relic-tier Archangel. The Archangel race has an incredibly low 0.1% roll chance. Do not burn your rerolls on Island 2; save them so you can immediately roll for these overpowered new races on day one.
With the massive economy and drop rate rework, rare ores are more valuable than ever. The Forge Locking System allows you to secure RNG categories by inserting specific amounts of ore into the Forge. Practice using this system now so you don’t accidentally waste legendary materials trying to roll the new Tridents or Excalibur swords.
Enemies on Island 3 will melt you if you are under-geared. You are moving away from basic Island 2 mobs and facing Elite Orcs with 2,000+ HP. Even worse, the Yeti enemies boast a massive 8,000 to 14,000 HP. Maximize your current weapon DPS before traveling, or fights will take agonizingly long.
Don’t leave Island 2 unfinished. Clear out your main questlines for NPCs like Sensei Moro and Captain Rowan. Having a clean quest log ensures you can immediately speak to Bjorn (the main Island 3 quest giver) without worrying about prerequisite blocks or overlapping tasks.
When you first enter the Spider Cave on Island 3, you will be swarmed by Crystal Spiders and Diamond Spiders (which have over 1,000 HP). This is your primary early mining zone for Ice Pebbles, Tungsten, and Sulfur. Ensure your armor is upgraded enough to survive taking multiple hits from these mobs while you mine.
One of the most valuable NPCs waiting for you near the Island 3 spawn is Santa. He offers incredibly valuable quests that reward free XP Totems, rare blueprints, and a special Christmas Pickaxe featuring a massive 72% luck boost. Prioritize his questline the second you load in.
Playing on “autopilot” and face-tanking damage is no longer viable. Island 3 enemies hit incredibly hard, the Yetis alone deal 125 to 150 base damage per swing. Practice your dodges, spacing, and parries now. If you can’t consistently avoid damage, the massive Golem bosses will wipe your party instantly.
