Starting over in Bee Swarm Simulator wasn’t something I planned to enjoy. When you are used to endgame mythic hives and making trillions of honey overnight, claiming a starter hive with one basic bee feels painfully slow.
But I wanted to see what the new player experience actually feels like in the current meta. I created a brand-new account and set three strict rules:
- Zero Robux spent (Complete Free-to-Play).
- No accepting donations (No begging for Meteor Showers or high-level carries).
- Rebuild everything naturally from scratch.
What followed was one of the most frustrating, grind-heavy, and surprisingly fun experiences I’ve had in BSS in years. If you are starting out or stuck in the early game, here is exactly how I progressed, what actually mattered, and the massive mistakes you need to avoid.
1. Promo Codes and the “Top Shop” Rush
Claiming the first hive is underwhelming, but you can skip the first few hours of grinding immediately.
- The Strategy: I redeemed every active promo code right off the bat (codes like
GumdropsForScience and Nectar). This instantly flooded my account with free honey, tickets, and field boosts. - The Gear Goal: I did not waste money on incremental gear like the basic masks. My sole focus was reaching 25 Bees as fast as possible to unlock the Mountain Top Shop. Early capacity upgrades (like the Port-O-Hive) do more for your progression than almost any other purchase. Once at the Top Shop, getting the Beekeeper’s Boots and Mondo Belt Bag changed everything.
2. Bomb Bees Carried Me Hard
When you are a noob, your hive composition is going to look terrible, and that is completely fine. You do not need precise Legendary or Mythic bees early on.
- The Carry: Bomb-producing bees absolutely saved my run. Bees like Frosty, Demo, and Rad Bee clear early-game fields faster than anything else. While bomb tokens feel incredibly weak to an endgame player, they are insanely powerful when your base collection stats are low. Early game isn’t about perfect synergy; it is about raw momentum.
3. The Biggest Mistake New Players Make With Treats
When you first get treats, it is tempting to spam them to level up your bees instantly. I refused to do this.
- The Rule: I only used treats when Mother Bear explicitly required it for a quest.
- Why it matters: Mother Bear’s questline quietly controls your hive’s leveling efficiency. If you waste all your treats early, you will hit a massive wall trying to complete her mid-game quests (which reward the crucial Star Treats). Controlled leveling saves millions of honey and hours of grinding later.
4. Saving 500 Tickets for the Ultimate Event Bee
Tickets stack up faster than you expect if you are doing your quests and hunting Wealth Clocks. A massive mistake beginners make is spending tickets on Gold Eggs or Royal Jellies.
- The Purchase: I hoarded my first 500 Tickets and immediately bought the Tabby Bee.
- Why Tabby? The Tabby Bee is universally considered the best first Event Bee. It has a mechanic called “Tabby Love” that stacks permanently every time you collect its token. The earlier you get Tabby Bee, the sooner you start stacking Tabby Love. Once maxed out at 1,000 stacks, it becomes the absolute best pollen collector in the game.+1
5. Multitasking Black Bear & Planters
Almost all of my early progress came from Black Bear quests. They naturally guide you around the map and reward steady progression. However, grinding one quest at a time is a waste of hours.
- Quest Overlap: I only farmed fields that completed multiple quests at once. If Black Bear wanted Sunflower pollen, I made sure I was simultaneously working on a Polar Bear or Science Bear quest in that same field.
- Early Planters: Planters felt optional at first, but they are mandatory for F2P players. I bought the Ticket Planter and basic Plastic Planters immediately. They provided a massive passive income of fruits, tickets, and nectars. Cheap planters pay themselves back almost instantly if you cycle them constantly.
6. Farming Fruits and Sprouts Early
Even when fruits (like Strawberries and Blueberries) felt useless, I hoarded them.
- Sprout Leeching: Rare and Epic sprouts were the biggest turning points for my account. As a noob, my combat was terrible, so my strategy was simple: show up, jump around to avoid mob damage, and collect whatever the higher-level players popped.
- Crafting Preparation: Do not feed your fruits to your bees trying to get them gifted. Save them. You will need massive amounts of extracts for mid-game gear (like the Honey Mask or Crimson/Cobalt Guards).
What Restarting Taught Me
Starting over reminded me that progress beats perfection. You don’t need Robux or a Mythic Egg to grow fast. If you overlap your quests, save your treats for Mother Bear, and rush your Tabby Bee, you can cut the early-game grind in half.
